How to open your bank account
If you do not already bank with us, opening an account is fast and easy - just come in to any one of our branches and speak to one of our Customer Service Representatives. You can also download applications from the GCB website If you are opening an account with us for the first time, please bring the following with you:
- One passport-sized photograph.
- Valid Ghana identity card (passport / driver's license / voter ID).
- Proof of residential postal address.
- A copy of any one of the following: utility bill; tenancy agreement.
- Letter of introduction from employer.
- An initial deposit.
If you are new to banking in Ghana, or have any questions at all, just ask our staff. We'll be happy to help you.
A few days after opening your account, you will be able to collect your GCB Readycash card from your branch. We will also provide you with your Personal Identification Number (PIN), which you should keep secret from others. Once you have your card and PIN, you can use any ATM to view your balance and make withdrawals. You can also use it to pay for items at many stores, without having to write a cheque or use cash.
You can also download the GCB internet banking form.
It's your money, so we make it easy for you to keep track of it. Check your balance any time at any of our ATMs, online or on your mobile device.
Credit facilities are also easily arranged with GCB. All you have to do is call +233 302 681 531 or visit your nearest branch for details and to apply.
Paying money into your account
You can pay money into your account by cash or cheque at any GCB branch.
You can arrange with your employer to transfer your salary directly to your account for maximum convenience, saving you the trouble of visiting a branch. That means your salary is paid directly into the account on a set day, giving you instant access from any branch or ATM.

Getting cash and viewing your balance
You can use your GCB Readycash card at any ATM 24/7 to view your balance and withdraw cash free of charge. Your card will work at all ATMs in Ghana, though there may be a small charge for withdrawing cash from non-GCB ATMs.
If you have a MasterCard or Visa card from GCB, you can withdraw cash from any ATM machine in Ghana or abroad displaying the Visa, MasterCard or Cirrus symbols, though there may be a charge for this.
In addition to ATMs, you can also manage your money at times that suit you via other channels such as internet and mobile banking.

Accessing your Account
You can access your account on your computer by logging into GCB Internet Banking.
To sign up, download a form or ask at any branch. You just need your ATM card number and PIN (Personal Identification Number). It's that easy!
Lost or stolen cards / cheque books
If you lose your Readycash card or cheque book, it is extremely important that you report the loss as soon as possible, to GCB e-banking customer service on 0302 246 025 / 0302 254 101 so that we can prevent other people from accessing your account. You can follow up with a letter or in-branch report. You will receive a replacement card within a few days of notifying us.
