GCB's Deputy Managing Director Finance, Mr. Socrates Afram, during an interview on special activities commemorating the Bank's 70th Anniversary on TV3's morning show, re-emphasized the Bank's commitment to contributing to Ghana's socio-economic development by safeguarding and protecting depositors’ funds.
"To date, GCB has executed the mandate of delivering financial solutions that contribute to Ghana's socio-economic development excellently. We have done that with a clear demonstration of resilience, relevance, resourcefulness and results during these seven decades", he stated.
He reiterated that for decades, GCB has been very active in providing financial solutions to the various sectors of the Ghanaian economy such as road construction, housing, cocoa, mining, commerce and energy in particular. GCB at a point was the only bank that supported the country’s oil refinery, TOR which was a key contribution to sustain the economy.
Speaking to Burla Mundi, the show's host, Mr. Afram rightly paid credence to the founding fathers of the Bank who had the sole motive of promoting indigenous Ghanaian businesses to accelerate economic development and provide financial solutions to households across the country.
Highlighting activities to commemorate the anniversary, he touched on thought leadership forums, tree planting initiatives, various campus activations, health walks and screenings, a dinner all planned for 2023 and a thanksgiving service in early 2024.
He remarked that he was of the firm conviction that despite attending challenges, for the next 7 decades, GCB Bank PLC will remain "your bank for life"
And concluded by assuring listeners and customers that the GCB Bank's year-long Platinum Anniversary is to recognize the contribution of all our stakeholders, staff, management, board and more importantly, to appreciate our customers who have helped GCB’s growth and development.
