Deputy Managing Director of the Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Odartey Lamptey, was a guest on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show hosted by Mr. Kojo Yankson on Wednesday 6th September 2023.
The conversation which focused on the Bank’s seven decades of doing business in Ghana touched on its role in the socio-economic development of the country and the celebration of its 70 years of doing business.
Mr. Lamptey began by speaking on the Bank’s contributions to its various customer segments and highlighted the Bank’s branch network as one of its strengths in delivering on its mandate.
“We offer loan products to households, helping to elevate them from poverty, we also provide lending facilities to SMEs and we are excited about that. We take a case like Saboba where we are the only bank in that part of the country. We are providing solutions to our corporate clients by facilitating trade finance and payments for local companies here and multinationals.”
In answering a question about what sets GCB Bank apart from its competition, Mr. Lamptey explained that the Bank leads with a personal touch to help each customer meet their financial needs and goals.
“We do it differently, we bring a personal touch to doing banking. We’ve had people who have banked with us for over forty years. This shows you the confidence that Ghanaians have in our business and our unwavering commitment to various parts of Ghana. With our 186 branches, 340 ATMs complimented by our digital offerings, we will continue to bring banking to the doorstep of every Ghanaian.”
He also mentioned the Bank’s commitment to national development outlining how GCB Bank supports the government in its revenue collection efforts.
“We support a lot of government departments with revenue collections. We all know the importance of revenue collection towards the running of the nation and we have done a great job at promoting economic development for our country. We lead with purpose, at GCB Bank we are not only focused on making profits, we believe in contributing to society.”
Speaking on the Bank’s rebranding from Ghana Commercial Bank to GCB Bank in 2014, Mr. Lamptey iterated that the rebranding was to reemphasize the Bank’s commitment to supporting the business needs of all Ghanaians and to assure its shareholders of continued growth.
He also went on to speak about the various activities like the Bank’s thanksgiving service, health screenings and tree planting drive the Bank had undertaken earlier in the year as part of its celebrations. He touched on the remaining celebratory activities for the rest of the year and invited Mr. Yankson to the 70th Anniversary Golf Tournament happening at the Achimota Golf Club on 9th September 2023.
In his final remarks, Mr. Lamptey reiterated the Bank’s commitment to serving its customers for life and added that continuous innovation will continue to be part of GCB Bank’s efforts at providing the best services to all its customers and strong returns for its shareholders.
