GCB Bank Ltd has renovated the Girls’ Dormitory of the Osu Children’s Home into a modern facility.

The project was undertaken in partnership with the Berry Web Foundation, an NGO, with a focus on improving the living conditions of children in society.

 

Speaking on behalf of the Management of GCB at the handing over ceremony, the Corporate and Brand Communications Manager of the Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Kojo Kwarteng, said the renovation project is in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for national development.

“GCB Bank is duly committed to playing a vital role in every facet of national development and as such we invested so much in the interest of the children and their well-being,” he said.

He said the Bank prioritises the wellbeing of children, health and education under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Mr. Kwarteng advised the `Management of the Home to ensure that the facility is well maintained to maximize the benefits for the children.

 

He also congratulated the Founder of Berry Web Foundation, Mrs Rebecca Ayitey Smith for her effort which culminated in revamping this dormitory.

Mrs. Christiana Addo, the Home Manager, thanked GCB Bank for funding the renovation project.

“The renovated dormitory is so far the nicest dormitory in the Home thanks to GCB Bank and Berry Web Foundation,” she added.

The Director of Child and Family Welfare of the Department of Social Welfare, Mr. Fred Sekyi Boafo, also expressed gratitude to GCB Bank for the kind gesture.

 

He explained that children homes were established as places for children who are in need of protection and safety, hence the Department of Social Welfare works together with other stakeholders in order to improve the lives of children in the various orphanages.

Mr. Sekyi Boafo gave the assurance that, the Department would ensure that the facility serves its purpose and is also adequately maintained to provide a serene environment for the children.

Mrs. Rebecca Ayitey Smith also expressed her profound gratitude to the Bank for its immense support for the renovation project.
