• “esa” from the word “Esa-nti-foc” (Asante) means people who like to go to war??.

• “Obi nkaa bi a, obi nka bi”
(Ask an Asante friend for translation ?)

The Asantehene wears the “obi nkaa bi a, obi nka bi” crown when there’s war. It has a symbol of two fishes seemingly biting each other’s tail.

• The name Jamaica is a corruption of the twi expression “gyama ya ka ha” which literally translates as “it looks like we are stuck here”. Captured slaves from the Asante Kingdom kept asking themselves “gyama ya ka ha”.. which was later corrupted to Jamaica.
