Participants at the last Saturday’s GCB Millennium Marathon have hailed the successful organisation and patronage of the event.

They commended the involvement of Senior Management staff in kick-starting and supporting the distribution of medals to participants who completed the race.

The GCB Management team led by Mr Samuel Amankwah, Deputy Managing Director, Operations and aided by Mr Anthony Asare, Mr Abudulai Osman, Mr Emmanuel Ofori-Danquah, Heads of Compliance and Support Services Departments and Mr Justice Gaveh, Accra Regional Manager clad in GCB colors were seen visibly and busily handling their tasks at the Independence Square where the Marathon began and ended.

 

Some staff, Union and family members joined in the marathon that ended in about six hours.

Members of the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG) and para-athletes also joined making it more fan.

Mr Ashim Mortin, CEO of Millennium Marathon Ltd, expressed appreciation to the Management of the Bank for sponsoring and participating in the marathon.

 

Addressing thousands of the participants, Mr Amankwah explained that the Bank’s association with the Marathon stems from the Bank’s commitment to Mother Ghana, sports and human development and its overall corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes adding that “sports is one of the cardinal pillars in our CSR activities.”

“We believe in the axiom that health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. As Ghana’s largest bank and sponsor of this festival, we deeply value good health,” he said.

 

 

Mr. Amankwah noted that medical doctors in recent time have been encouraging patients and Ghanaians in general to watch their diet and exercise to prevent diseases.

“Your participation and patronage of the Marathon are indications that we have not abandoned the wisdom that good health is not just the absence of disease, but involves healthy lifestyle, healthy mental attitude, and healthy ways of relating to all living beings and nature,” he said
