BANKING AWARDS 2

GCB Bank Limited won two prestigious awards at the 16th Ghana Banking Awards held over the weekend.

The awards include Most Active Ezwich Bank and 2nd Runner-up in competitive pricing.

GCB has maintained these categories of awards for three consecutive years.

The Bank was presented with a plaque and certificates.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of GCB Mr. Socrates Afram led the Bank’s team at the awards night.

Other members of GCB delegation included Mr. Muniru Head of Customer Service Department and his deputy Mr. Michael Akuffo-Addo together with representatives from Consumer Banking and Corporate Affairs Departments respectively.

In all 33 banks competed for 17 award categories including the coveted Bank of the Year Award.

Speaking on the theme “Redefining a sustainable customer experience in banking 60 years after independence” the Governor of the central bank Dr. Ernest Addison urged banks to adopt customer-centric approach by putting customers at the center of their business.

This he said was key to the success of the financial services industry. “Customers have been and will always be the lifeline of all businesses and, especially with banks, where customer deposits are the main funding source,” he stated.

He said customer experience in the banking industry had changed massively in recent years, with banking becoming more customer-friendly with innovative financial products.

“Complaints are now readily handled by either phone calls or electronic means to address customer related issues. Banks are taking extra steps to expand their businesses by leveraging technology to boost their market share and profitability,” he stated.

The Governor hinted his outfit was collaborating with all stakeholders to strengthen the payment and settlement systems and promote interoperability within the financial sector and the various telecommunication platforms.

He was confident this would provide an added boost to expand the digital financial services platform and fully integrate it with other operators.

Last year GCB was the 1st Runner-up in financial performance and trade finance respectively.
