GCB SUPPORTS PANAFEST 2017

GCB Bank Ltd has demonstrated its commitment to the cultural development of the country with the donation of an amount of GHC75,000.00 towards the 25th anniversary celebration of Panafest.

This forms part of the Bank’s Stirring Passion campaign which focuses on support for five key areas namely Culture, Education, Health, Sports and Environment.

The silver jubilee celebration of PANAFEST will focus on the power of pan African culture in view of its unacknowledged global impact and emphasize the need to explore its potential for strengthening the socio-economic status of Africa.

Managing Director of GCB, Mr. Ray Sowah, in his address said as an indigenous Ghanaian Bank, with a heritage tied to the independence of Ghana, the Bank is happy to be associated with PANAFEST which seeks to celebrate the strength and resilience of culture and the achievements of Africans on the continent and in the diaspora.

“It is interesting that during PANAFEST’s silver jubilee, two Ghanaians have been mentioned highly internationally. By this I mean the acknowledgement of the Ghanaian Architect, David Adjaye and the Queen of England’s choice of first black equerry in the person of Major Nana Kofi Twumasi Ankrah”, Mr. Sowah added.

Mr. Sowah disclosed that GCB is repositioning and readying itself to make its physical presence felt worldwide in the near future.

“We see the opportunities that this move will bring to business growth and the national economy and development, and we are committed to this strategic initiative”, he added.

The Chairperson of PANAFEST Foundation, Mad. Esi Sutherland Addy said PANAFEST has a strong affinity with GCB and promised to use the support from the Bank judiciously to achieve its intended purpose.

She called on corporate Ghana to support issues bordering on culture as the springboard for development.

The presentation ceremony brought together stakeholders in the arts and culture industry in Ghana. Notable among them was Mr. Reginald Laryea, MD for Media Majique Limited as well as the Executive Management of the Bank.
