GCB Bank Ltd has donated GH¢ 64,000.00 to support 20 medical students of the University of Ghana for their 2017 study abroad programme.

The donation forms part of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility which goes to support the programme which is organised annually by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA).

 

Presenting the cheque to the medical students, The Head of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations of GCB Bank, Mrs. Thyra Obuobi, said education and health were priority areas for the Bank’s CSR activities the reason the Bank has introduced the Stirring Passion Campaign to reiterate its commitment to CSR.

The support is expected to enhance the expertise of the young doctors who will return to serve the nation with the knowledge and experience they acquire.

 

The gesture she said shows GCB’s commitment to help build the capacity of the nation’s medical practitioners. She urged the students to come back with new ideas to help grow the healthcare delivery system in the country.

She said the Bank is willing to invest in educational materials for the medical school to build on the capacity of students in their medical education.

 

Speaking on behalf of the medical students, Mr. Kwabena Asante Asabere, the President of the University of Ghana Medical Students Association thanked GCB for the kind gesture and promise to have fruitful relationship with the Bank.
