GCB Bank as part of its corporate social responsibility has sponsored The Thrash In Bin project which is aimed at advocating proper waste management to safeguard the environment.
Its also to create public awareness on issues of sanitation and waste disposal as opposed to the indiscriminate littering of the environment as witnessed everyday around us.
The project is been spearheaded by Ms. Deborah Eyram Dodor Miss Earth, Ghana 2016.
Miss Earth is the only major beauty pageant that actively promotes and campaigns for the protection and preservation of the environment.
GCB has committed GH¢ 20,000.00 towards the yearlong Thrash In Bin campaign.
This saw Partner Miss Earth representatives from other countries such as the United Kingdom, India, Philippines, Zambia, Bahamas, Philippines and Lebanon were present to lend their support to the project.
The beauty queens as part of their visit participated in cleanup exercises in markets and places within the capital and held forums to educate people on the need to protect the environment all in the bid to create awareness.
The earth queens paid a visit to the Head Office of GCB to show their appreciation for the Bank’s sponsorship and interacted with staff too on issues pertaining to environmental protection and how to create a clean and a happy place to live in.
The special guest of honour at the launch of the project Hon. Otiko Afisa Djaba Minister for Gender and Social protection underscored the need for continuous education on issues bordering on sanitation.
She implored the organizers to employ the 3 Es to help in the success of their initiative these are; Education, Engineering and Enforcement.
The Bank being very passionate about the environment is excited to be part of this initiative.
