GCB Bank Limited has opened its 161st branch in Saboba in the Northern Region of Ghana. The Saboba branch is the fifth to be out-doored under the Bank’s new brand and the first such branch to be opened in the northern sector.
Early this year, GCB opened branches in Haatso, Amasaman, Adjiringanor and Weija all in Accra. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Managing Director of GCB, Mr. Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, expressed his delight at the giant inroads the Bank has made into the area which he described as a huge, viable commercial and fast-growing community which deserves banking services.
GCB, he said, has been doing business in almost all the districts and business communities in the northern sector for many years. “The incessant calls and demands by residents and businesses in this area for a branch of GCB were therefore justifiable and it is also a vote of confidence in GCB for having knowledge of the terrain and the capacity to manage banking business in the area.”
“Venturing into Saboba is in recognition of the key role Saboba and surrounding communities play in the fast-growing economy of the area and Ghana as a whole, “the presence of GCB is therefore necessary to accelerate the growth of these suburbs,” he added.
Mr Agbesi gave the assurance that GCB Saboba would offer all the banking services of the Bank including deposit-taking and investment facilitation.
He mentioned some of the products and services as GCB SME Banking, 24-Hour Personal Loan, Electronic banking covering ATMs, SMS Banking, Internet Banking and GCB Mobile Banking.
“We have taken cognizance of the nature of business and livelihoods in Saboba and your Bank, GCB will pay special attention to SME businesses because Saboba District is known for its vast farm lands, guest houses, clinics, tourist attractions and tourists, traders and transport operators,” the Managing Director said.
He urged residents of Saboba and surrounding communities to take advantage of the Bank’s services.
Ubor Binalebeami Mickeal Kambongya, Paramount Chief of Saboba, commended the Management of the Bank for extending banking services of national and international standards to the area.
He gave the assurance that the chiefs and people of the area would complement the Bank’s efforts by ensuring that GCB succeeds and sustains operations in the area.
The District Chief Executive of the Saboba District, Mr John Ali Adolf, called on the people to sustain the peace in the area to attract more investment.
He said the collaborative efforts of the Bank and the District Assembly has resulted in the establishment of the Saboba branch.
