Ms. Owusua Mayfair, a customer of the Tantra Hill branch of GCB Bank Limited who emerged as the overall winner of the GCB Big Money Promo was on Wednesday night (16th December 2015) presented with a cheque for GH¢300,000.
Ms. Owusua in awe and excitement described GCB’s gesture as timely coming at a time when she had shut down her boutique in Accra owing to financial difficulty and which was compounded by the sudden death of her father.
She was in her home town in the Eastern Region organising the funeral of her father when she was informed that she had won GH¢300,000.00 in the GCB Big Money Promo on November 24, 2015.
Ms. Owusua said, “as I answered the life changing phone call, I didn’t believe her;- Mrs Doris Wunu, Head of Consumer Banking- when she told me I was the Ghc 300,000 grand prize winner of the GCB Bank Big Money Promo”
“I don’t want any pressure or lies, because I’m in the process of performing the funeral rites. So if you know it’s not true, please don’t joke with me,” was my second response to Mrs. Wunu’s re-assuring voice.
At the presentation ceremony the Managing Director of the Bank, Mr Simon Dornoo, said “we are glad that this promo has been far-reaching and winners have come from all regions of this country. We have improved lives by giving away prizes far in excess of GH¢500,000.00.”
He said GCB as a new brand promises innovative products, improved customer experience and an opportunity for customers to maximise the return on their money.
In order to realise these, the MD said, a suite of products have been introduced including an enhanced small and medium enterprises (SME) service and GCB Easy Pick, a consumer credit scheme that allows customers to buy essentials at cheaper prices and spread the payment over a period.
Mr Dornoo said, “our objective in the relationship with our customers is to build a lifelong partnership. We are moving beyond banking to life-style enhancement of our customers. This will bring real meaning to our tag line, “Your bank for life.”
He announced that the Bank would from next year begin to roll out new branch formats designed to enhance customer experience and that new branches would be opened in areas where GCB was not represented.
Mr Dornoo congratulated Ms. Owusua and all prize winners under the GCB Big Money Promo and charged them to become ambassadors of GCB by sharing their experiences with family and friends.
Other winners of the sixth and final draw of the promo received their prizes.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Bank, Mr Samuel Sarpong, presented prizes to these winners.
They are Ms. Gladys Appiah, of the Kade branch who received a 5kva generator, Mr. Angbonzan Senty of Elubo branch who also received a 5kva generator and Mr. Wisdon Gidisu and Sampson Abrokwa of Hohoe and Liberty House branches who received a 1 kva generator each.
Mr. Manu Bob Brown of Bechem branch picked a Samsung S6 Edge while Mr Bernard Acheampong of Dormaa Ahenkro branch received a Samsung Note One Tablet.
All prize winners expressed their heart-warming satisfaction to God and GCB for such a rewarding and life-changing promotion and urged others to join the GCB family.
