The General Manager of Retail Banking of the Ghana Commercial Bank Limited (GCB), Ms Joyce Atta-Krah, says the Bank has repositioned itself to assuage the hyper-competition in the banking industry.

She said the Bank in the last eight years has been transformed and restructured making customer satisfaction the centre of its operations and urged staff of the bank not to commit any acts that will scare away clients and investors.

She said the bank was committed to ensuring the highest quality banking services for customers.

Ms Atta-krah was speaking at the inauguration of the Elmina branch of the GCB at Elmina on Monday.

The Elimina Branch of the bank is the 149th branch to be opened in the country. Additionally, the Bank maintains 11 agencies making GCB the largest Bank in Ghana.

It offers all the services including international and local money transfers, loans, internet banking, trade services and others.

Ms Atta-krah said the competition in the banking sector requires high quality staff to enable the bank attract the needed customers saying the bank was committed to making the customer "king."

She said customers would be given a number which would be posted at all branches to call and report any negative behaviour shown by a staff member.

She urged customers to ensure that they repay loans promptly.

Ms Atta-Krah asked customers to report negative attitudes of staff by mobile phone for action.

The bank said it had resolved to ensure that workers who treat customers with disdain were not entertained.

The Municipal Coordinating Director of the Komenda Edina-Eguafo Abrem (KEEA), Mr Dramani Saaka said he was optimistic that the bank would boost economic activities in the area.

He called for the prompt distribution of bank statements for customers.

Mr Fiifi Dennis, Cape Coast Area Manager of the bank called on customers to use facilities such as the Express Money Transfer of the bank and the Kudi Nkosuo to help the bank succeed.
