The Minister for Women and Children's Affairs, Ms. Akua Sena Dansua has asked parents to take advantage of the GCB Kidistar Account and build a better future for their children so that they can also take care of them when they are old.

The Minister made this known at the launch of GCB Kidistar Account, a savings account designed to give the child a financial head start in life. She urged parents to enlighten the child on banking business and open an account to give the child a better education.

Mr Adu-Mante, the Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank Limited, also called on parents and guardians to educate their wards about the values and benefits of saving, as well as inculcate the habit of saving in them.

GCB has fashioned out the Kidistar Account to enable parents and Guardians to open an account for their children immediately they are born through to the age of 17.

He emphasised on the policy of the Bank to bring banking to the door-step of all Ghanaians to make banking convenient for all and also help improve the quality of life of all Ghanaians.

He asked Parents not to fall on the account in their time of need and adviced them to plan and place their wards' development at the fore.

GCB Kidistar Account is linked to Commernet Plus (Internet Banking) and its minimum initial deposit is ¢10.00. The account can be operated from any of GCB's 149 branches. There are no charges when transferring from a GCB account into child's account with no charges on standing orders in to the account.

The Minister was among parents who opened Kidistar accounts for their children right after the launch.

Children from Green Valley Complex at Awoshie performed a sketch on the importance of parents saving towards their children's education to drive the benefits of the product launch to parents.
