GCB Bank has formalised a strategic partnership with the Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Bank’s Head Office in Accra.
The partnership underscores GCB Bank’s commitment to strengthening support for Ghana’s export sector, with particular focus on export-oriented SMEs and growing businesses. Through the collaboration, GCB will work closely with FAGE to deliver tailored trade finance solutions, enhance capacity in trade and foreign exchange risk management, expand market access, and strengthen the repatriation of export proceeds through the Bank.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, CEO of FAGE, Mr. Abdul-Zanni Dudiure Karim, welcomed the partnership and expressed optimism about its impact on exporters. He noted that access to foreign exchange remains one of the most significant challenges facing exporters and said the collaboration with GCB Bank is expected to help address this constraint and make export transactions more seamless and efficient.
From the Bank’s side, the Executive Head of Commercial and Business Banking at GCB Bank, Mr. Alhassan Iddrisu Danaa, described the partnership as timely and strategic. He emphasised that exporters are critical to Ghana’s economy due to the foreign exchange they generate and reaffirmed GCB’s mandate to provide inclusive financial services that support economic growth. He added that the Bank has identified the export sector as a priority area and is committed to developing targeted strategies to meet the needs of FAGE and its members.
Also speaking at the event, the Manager for Partnerships Unit at GCB Bank, Ms. Winnifred Nkansah, said the collaboration aligns with the Bank’s broader objective of making impact beyond traditional banking. She explained that the Partnership Unit was established to connect GCB to the wider ecosystem through strategic collaborations and expressed confidence that the partnership with FAGE would deliver mutual benefits and contribute positively to the wider economy.
FAGE is the national umbrella body for exporters and product associations and plays a key role in driving Ghana’s non-traditional exports. The partnership positions GCB Bank as a trusted financial partner to exporters, supporting sustainable growth and strengthening Ghana’s participation in global trade.
