As part of activities marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month, GCB Bank PLC demonstrated its commitment to building a safe and informed digital environment through a series of initiatives designed to empower staff, customers, and the public with practical cybersecurity knowledge.
Under the theme “Building a Safe, Informed and Accountable Digital Space,” the Bank rolled out an internal awareness campaign to enhance staff readiness, hosted a webinar in partnership with experts from KPMG Ghana, and visited selected branches to strengthen the culture of cyber vigilance across its network.
Beyond its internal efforts, GCB extended the campaign to the public through thought-provoking updates on its social media channels and website, climaxing with an outreach programme dubbed “Think Cyber.” The debut event, held at the Ghana Communications Technology University (GCTU) in Accra, drew an enthusiastic audience of students and faculty eager to learn real-world insights on identifying and avoiding online scams, cyberbullying, and other threats that undermine digital safety.
Participants were highly engaged throughout the session. “This has been insightful, and I have learnt a great deal. These are nuggets from industry professionals and based on real examples. I feel empowered to promote a safe cyber space,” one student shared.
The event also strengthened the partnership between GCB Bank and GCTU, which focuses on giving students practical exposure to emerging cybersecurity technologies and best practices. During his presentation, Bright Ohene, Cybersecurity Compliance Manager, stated: “It’s always exciting to give young people the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by seasoned professionals from the Bank. Practical experience that enhances both learning and professional growth is very important to us at GCB Bank.”
In an interview, Theophilus Aryee, Chief Risk Officer, explained: “As we expand our digital footprint, GCB Bank is investing in the right technology and people to ensure we are well equipped to protect the Bank and our valued customers. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant, keep learning, and stay safe online.”
Through continuous education and partnerships, GCB Bank continues to promote a culture of cyber awareness that empowers individuals and institutions to thrive confidently in today’s digital space.
