This November, GCB Bank’s Afro-Asia Unit will take center stage at the prestigious China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, a global platform that attracts thousands of businesses, investors, and policymakers from across the world.
As Ghana’s largest indigenous bank, our participation at the CIIE represents a bold step toward deepening Ghana’s trade and investment footprint in Asia and positioning the Bank as a key enabler in the Africa-Asia trade corridor.
Speaking to the Managing Director, Farihan Alhassan, he said: “Our participation at CIIE marks a major step in advancing Ghana’s trade and financial linkages with Asia, particularly China – our largest trading partner. This aligns perfectly with our goal to position GCB Bank as the financial bridge for Ghana-Asia trade to better support Ghanaian businesses.”
According to Aurelia Baaba Ofori Odame, Head of SOEs and the Afro-Asia Unit, the team’s mission at the Expo is anchored on key strategic pillars designed to reinforce the Bank’s reputation as an innovative and internationally connected institution that creates tangible impact for Ghanaian businesses and for GCB Bank (GCB).
The Bank’s participation is key to simplifying cross-border trade and improving payment efficiency for Ghanaian exporters and importers. Through curated networking sessions and strategic trade linkages, the GCB team will connect Ghanaian exporters to Asian buyers and distributors, unlocking access to high-demand markets and driving sustainable export growth.
“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to innovation and growth. The CIIE gives us an unparalleled opportunity to tell Ghana’s story, promote our exporters, and strengthen our position as the go-to financial partner for Africa-Asia trade,” said Aurelia.
This landmark event sets the stage for a future where African and Asian markets collaborate more closely than ever before with GCB at the heart of that partnership.
