A number of organizations in various sectors of the economy continue to take advantage of the wide spread and network of Ghana Commercial Bank Ltd.(GCB) to enhance their business and service delivery.
They include Licensed Buying Organizations, Oil Marketing Companies, mobile phone companies, as well as tertiary institutions, some churches and insurance companies.
According to the General Manager, Corporate Banking Division, Mr. Laud Baddoo, GCB has rolled out its Smartpay system for the collection of fees from students all over the country for the public universities namely the Universities of Ghana, Legon, KNUST, University of Cape Coast and the University College of Winneba. The University of Development Studies is using the system for the sale of its application forms online.
The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) is another institution which is collecting examination registration fees through GCB. They are also using the same system to pay fees of the examiners WAEC uses.
One of the original institutions which has benefitted from GCB's spread is Customs and Excise Service for who GCB handles collection of duties at the border towns.
At the moment GCB has 157 branches and 15 agencies all on wide area network and this facilitates instant and prompt payment of fees into an organization's account.
While speed is registered in service, security is guaranteed, as expressed by some of these patrons of GCB's service. The Bank has even gone the extra mile to collect cash from the premises of their customers.
One other major partner is SSNIT Informal sector (SIS). Contributors of SSNIT Informal en cash cheques issued them by SIS at 33 of the Bank's branches. They benefit from the Bank's services and infrastructure.
In the case of the insurance companies, GCB collects insurance premiums while fees for short courses are also collected for the Regional Maritime Academy through the Bank's Smartpay system.
